Dimapur, July 27 (EMN): Dobashis (DBs) and Goan Buras (GBs), who constituted custodians of the Naga culture and tradition, are asked to dispense justice as they are the one who implement law and order at the grassroots level.
This was expounded at the one-day legal awareness programme for DBs and GBs of Aboi sub-division organised by the Mon District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) held on July 26 at Aboi town.
Chief judicial magistrate cum secretary of Mon DLSA, Seyielenuo Mezhü, in here keynote address, spoke on the “Basic procedures of law (Cr.Pc/ C.Pc procedure) provided under rules of administration of justice and police.
She also stated that Nagaland state is unique because of the special act under Article 371 in the Indian constitution. She encouraged to practice justice, equity and good conscience both in the Indian judiciary and customary courts.
EAC Aboi, Lithrila Sangtam, in her welcome speech, stated that DBs and GBs must be sincere and do justice for they are the one who implement the law and order at the grassroots level. She also encouraged to practice record keeping in the customary court for effective functioning in the near future.
Topha Konyak, panel lawyer, spoke on the topic “Lok Adalat and its mechanism and money lender act and jurisdictional authority,” while M Moba, retainer lawyer, shared on the activities of MDLSA. He also encouraged the participants to disseminate awareness to the public.
