- DIMAPUR — Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a
pre-kharif campaign developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers
Welfare and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), will run across
India from May 29 to June 12.
- According to an update, as part of the campaign, Krishi
Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur is preparing to cover 144 villages in three
districts (Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland) of Nagaland.
- The campaign will be launched on May 29 at ICAR-National
Research Centre (NRC) on Mithun, with the presence of S Supongmeren Jamir,
Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), as the chief guest of the launching
programme.
- It was mentioned that the event is expected to be attended
by approximately 400 farmers. The campaign comprises four teams; each team will
cover three villages a day, benefiting approximately 450 villagers in total
each day.
- Each team will include technical experts from various
institutions, including scientists from ICAR Nagaland Centre, ICAR-NRC on
Mithun, Central Agricultural University, Jalukie, KVK scientists, and state
government officials from the departments of agriculture, horticulture,
fishery, animal husbandry, and other allied departments.
- The main objectives of the campaign are to create awareness
among farmers about improved agricultural technologies, to inform farmers about
various government schemes and policies on agricultural development, to
mobilise the scientific community for reciprocal learning with farmers, to
document grassroots insights to strengthen agricultural research, and to
understand local needs while gathering farmer feedback on improved
technologies.
