  • Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan reaches nine villages in Peren on fourth day

  • DIMAPUR — The fourth day of the ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) was organised by four teams, consisting of officers from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Nagaland Centre, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Jalukie, and the state Agriculture and allied departments, in nine villages across the Athibung, Jalukie, Peren, and Tening blocks of Peren district on Monday.

  • According to an update, the campaign aims to empower farmers with new agricultural schemes, technologies, and innovative crop cultivation practices for sustainable farming and food security.

  • The interaction involved interviewing farmers and collecting their feedback on kharif farming practices, challenges, and problems.

  • The VKSA programme was conducted in Inbung, Songlhoh, and Pelhang villages of the Athibung block. It was headed by Neivah Hangsing, Agriculture Officer, Athibung, and her team.

  • The programme brought together 171 farmers and led to a discussion on agricultural innovations and challenges. Officers from the Agriculture and allied departments interacted with farmers about pig and poultry diseases, crop insurance, farmer producer organisation (FPO) activities, Rajamircha cultivation, and more.

  • The VKSA programme was conducted in the New Peren and Kejanglwa villages of the Peren block. It was headed by Dr. Zaleigai Ndang, District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Peren; Dr. Patu K Zeling, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (ACTO) KVK Peren; and their team.

  • A total of 169 farmers actively interacted with officers from the state Agriculture and allied departments. During the programme, key objectives to increase agricultural productivity and enhance food security to empower farmers were discussed.

  • The VKSA programme was conducted in Azailong and Mbaupungwa villages of the Tening block in the presence of 72 farmers. It was headed by Samsangheile Nchang, SDAO Tening, and Z James Kikon. Their team interacted with farmers about various agricultural schemes, soil health cards, crop protection in King chilli farming, animal vaccination, and more.

  • The VKSA programme was conducted in Jalukie Rangkkodai and Jalukie Lo villages of the Jalukie block in the presence of 66 farmers. It was headed by Mapeuheile Ndang, SDAO Jalukie. Her team interacted with farmers about various agricultural schemes, soil testing, crop protection in King chilli and turmeric farming, and necessary crop protection for the kharif season.

  • Farmers’ feedback was collected in all four blocks.
