St. Joseph’s College (SJC) Jakhama and Rengma Students’ Union today became the last two teams to find quarter final berth in the ongoing student martyrs’ memorial soccer tournament organized by Naga Students’ Federation under the theme ‘Goal for Peace’ at Kohima Local ground.
In the penultimate pre-quarter final match, St Joseph’s College Jakhama blanked Jovial FC Kenuozou by three goals to nil.
It was Viho Kin contributing all the three goals to become the 14th hat-trick scorer of the tourney. He scored the goals in 15th, 39th & 69th minute of play.In the last match, Rengma Students’ Union came from behind to send back visitors Lamkhang Students’ Union, Manipur by 2-1.
The visitors scored first through Enao in 25th minute and continued to lead the first half with the solitary goal. Fifteen minutes into second half it was Yhunshalo Kemp finding the much needed equalizer for the home team and thereafter 62nd minute witnessed Senelo Tep bringing home the lead and finally win the match.
GERMAN TRAINER FOR SJC Jakhama
Adding flavor to the tourney, St Joseph’s College (SJC) Jakhama has brought in a foreigner coach. The team is being trained by Robert Begerau from Germany.
The St. Joseph College is imparting football certificate course as part of its extra-curriculum course. The German national had retired from German Football Association as a trainer. Prior to this he had also played Dusseldolf Club in the German football League as midfielder for a span of two and half decade. Consequent upon his leg injury, he had retired from active football to be become a trainer.
Meanwhile, the Organizing committee has hiked the entry ticket fee to Rs 30 from quarter finals, which will commence from tomorrow.
