Kohima, Sep. 24 (EMN): Nagaland cricket team suffered the second defeat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after Uttarakhand overpowered Nagaland by 6 wickets at the Motibagh Stadium in Vadodara in Gujarat on Monday.
The defeat means Nagaland has so far won two matches and lost two in their first class cricket debut.
In the match, Uttarakhand opted to field first and Nagaland managed to score 206/9 in 50 overs as former Karnataka batsmen Abrar Kazi half century (75* off 96 balls) steered Nagaland team to reach the 200 runs mark.
Wicketkeeper KB Pawan who scored a century in the last match was trapped lbw by Deepak Dhapola for 7 runs. Opener batsmen Nitesh Lochab contributed 24 runs, captain Rongsen Jonathan scored 33 runs in 38 balls, while Ravi Maurya scored 20 runs in 22 balls to set a target of 207 runs.
Deepak Dhapola claimed 4 wickets while Mayank Mishra took 2 wickets for Uttarkhand.
In reply, captain R Bhatia not out (31 of 50 balls) and wicketkeeper SA Rawat not out (60 off 46 balls) helped Uttarakhand team win by 6 wickets with 18 balls remaining.
Lemtur took two important wickets of Pawan Suyal who scored 43 off 97 balls and Vaibhav Singh who scored 63 off 85 balls.
Pawan Suyal and Imliwati Lemtur took two wickets each for Nagaland.
Up next, Nagaland will play against Puducherry on Sep. 28.
