Dimapur, Oct. 16 (EMN): Nagaland defeated Arunachal Pradesh by four wickets in the plate group league match of the ongoing men’s senior Vijay Hazare Trophy played at Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, Deradhun on Wednesday.
The win came after Nagaland became the first state from North East zone to beat a team from outside the zone by defeating Chandigarh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Monday. The state team had earlier beaten Sikkim by four wickets on October 11.
An update from joint secretary of Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), A Rahman informed that Arunachal Pradesh chose to bat first after winning the toss and put up a total of 212 runs for loss of seven wickets in 50 overs.
Rahul Dalal (61 runs), Song (35), Uvais Ahmed (32), and Samarth Seth (21) were the main contributors for Arunachal Pradesh, while Nagaland’s attack was led by Imliwati with four wickets, and one wicket each from Stuart, Mugavi and Inakato.
Nagaland chased down Arunachal Pradesh’s total by scoring 213 for loss of six wickets in 45.2 overs. Yogesh (91), Aosashi (28), Stuart (24), and Srikant (20) were the main contributors.
Techi took two wickets for Arunachal Pradesh, while Akhilesh, Licha and Samarth took a wicket apiece.
Nagaland will play against Manipur in their last league match today, October 17.
The update from NCA joint secretary further informed that Nagaland lost to Pondicherry by 33 runs in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad U-19 Boys Trophy.
