The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Police conducted a workshop on cyber security, cyber crimes and investigation on July 16 and 17 for investigating officers in the conference hall of the vigilance commission and forensics laboratory.
The workshop was a collaborated event with the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology.
IGP & Director of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption JI Yaden addressed the workshop stating that conventional transaction and communication is now more user-friendly with the advancement of information technology. This involves the use of alternative means over paper-based methods of communication and storage of information. Cyber crimes are committed by highly intelligent criminals who have access to more advanced and updated information and gadgets. There is an urgent need for the law enforcing agencies to arm themselves with adequate knowledge and information on cyber forensics and cyber security to contain the alarming rise of cyber crime, he said.
Director-in-charge of NEILIT Lanuwapang, Assistant Director of NEILIT Morimenba and Project Associate, Darmoni, were the resource persons. Some of the topics of interest the workshop broached were on cyber forensics, cyber crime, mobile and cyber security and IT Act. The workshop concluded with practical sessions for investigating officers in the forensic laboratory of NIELIT.
