Advisor Zhaleo urges villages to bring positive changes, development

DIMAPUR — Vidima village under Chümoukedima district celebrated its fifty years of establishment on the theme ‘A testament to 50 years of faith, hard work and togetherness,’ on Monday with Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, as the chief guest of the event.
Vidima village was set up on January 5, 1976, with the blessings of Chümoukedima village, which had donated the land to the present-day settlers and continues to be its parent village till date, an update stated.
Addressing the golden jubilee gathering, the chief guest lauded the visionary leaders and elders of Chümoukedima village who were farsighted enough to donate the land so that the present day Vidima village could be established.
Zhaleo encouraged Vidima villagers to develop the land further, which was entrusted to them, by investing their time and resources to make it a model village for all to look upon.
He urged the village leaders to bring about positive changes and development in the village through efficiency and honesty. He also highlighted the need for leaders to be well informed in this present day and age of technology, about various government programmes and schemes which can bring about physical development in the village.

Encouraging the youths, the advisor reminded them that not everyone can be a job holder or a farmer, but rather encouraged them to learn basic trade and commerce so that they can be self-sufficient in the days to come.
Zhaleo further spoke on the need to educate the youths to develop social etiquettes such as politeness, which are conducive to the smooth functioning of their business activities.
The jubilee celebrations kicked off with an invocation prayer by Seyievil Zhotso, pastor of Vidima Baptist Church, and a welcome address by Kezhangulie Pieki, chairman of Vidima Village Council, who greeted all well wishers of Vidima village present on the auspicious occasion. The Vidima youth jubilee choir and parent body choir presented folk fusion jubilee songs.
The programme concluded with a note of gratitude by Vistolhou Peseyie, jubilee convenor, and a closing prayer for the jubilee feast by Ruopfüvisie Nakhro, pastor of CRC Vidima.
