DIMAPUR — The
vibrant cultural presentations by 18 cultural troupes drew large crowd at the
main arena of the ongoing 25th edition of Hornbill Festival in Kisama on Day-8.
Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Youth Affairs and
Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, attended the morning session as the honoured
guest. The session was hosted by minister of Roads and Bridges, G Kaito Aye,
and co-hosted by Dr.
Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, advisor of School Education and
SCERT, along with the chairperson of Nagaland Bio-Resource Mission, Awan
Konyak, and Abu Metha, advisor to chief minister and chairman of IDAN.
The afternoon session saw the presence of the additional
secretary and financial advisor from the Ministry of Textiles as the honoured
guest. The minister of Housing and Mechanical Engineering, P Bashangmongba
Chang, was the host and the advisor of NRE, NSDMA, Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, and
chairman of NEPED, Subongmeren, co-hosted the programme.
Nazneen Banu, IDSE, Commander Works Engineer (CWE) Military
Engineer Services, Ministry of Defense, Government of India, also attended the
programme.
The session began with Pochury cultural troupe by presenting
‘Atitidoh’ (folk song), followed by the Sumi cultural troupe presented
‘Thihele’ (rice pounding song) and Kachari cultural troupe presented a
commemorative performance.
The Sangtam cultural troupe presented a commemorative
performance, while Yimkhiung cultural troupe presented log drum pulling
demonstration and the Zeliang cultural troupe presented ‘Hunginang’ (folk
song).
The Kuki cultural troupe performed ‘Salu Lap Lam’ (folk
dance), while the Chang cultural troupe performed ‘Pnangan Chia’ (folk dance)
and the Lotha cultural troupe showcased tiger hunting.
The Konyak cultural troupe presented a commemorative performance,
while the Garo cultural troupe showcased ‘Badi Dake Na Ade’ (folk song) and the
Khiamniungan cultural troupe performed ‘Elie Zuihang (post war dance).
The Rengma cultural troupe presented ‘Anga Kaghaju Khwi’
(lullaby), while the Tikhir cultural troupe showcased ‘Tanta Nyit’ (millet
harvesting song), and the Angami cultural troupe presented ‘Nuopie Pfhe’
(lullaby/cradle song).
The Ao cultural troupe showcased the chase of hen by female
eagle (game), while the Chakhesang cultural troupe presented ‘Kro Phekechu’
(folk dance) and the Phom cultural troupe demonstrated ‘Mishi Songola’ (fire
making).
