
KOHIMA — Commemorating World Zoonoses Day, the Veterinary Hospital Kohima (VHK) under the department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS) conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination camp at the hospital compound on July 6.
A press release from the hospital informed that the theme for this year was 'Preparedness for future epidemic/ pandemic lesions learnt from COVID-19.'
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The veterinary surgeon at Veterinary Hospital Kohima, Dr. Elizabeth Yhome, stated that the response of the pet owners was good as many turned up with their dogs and cats for vaccination.
It informed that a total of 178 pets were vaccinated during the programme.
The event was observed with an aim to create awareness on the growing threat of zoonotic diseases and to prevent them. Pointing out that zoonotic diseases are the linkage between animals and human beings, the veterinary hospital authority has sought collaborative efforts from all stakeholders to break the chain of zoonotic diseases transmission for a better and sound health of animal and human.
