College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Jalukie celebrates National Wildlife Week with talks and contests.

DIMAPUR — The College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University, in Jalukie, observed National Wildlife Week on the theme “Connecting habitats, thriving wildlife”.
According to an update, Chisayi Vadeo, Divisional Forest Officer of Peren, attended the event as the special guest and delivered a lecture on the theme.
He called for creating awareness among citizens regarding the conservation of flora and fauna, alongside the idea of coexistence.
He stated that necessary developmental works can progress without disturbing wildlife habitats through proper connectivity to maintain the ecosystem and animal movement.
Dean of the college, Dr. I Shakuntala, apprised the gathering of the college’s ongoing activities, explained the importance of addressing habitat fragmentation, and appealed to stakeholders to work together for wildlife protection.
A poster-making competition based on the theme was organised for students, with 11 students taking part. Dignitaries awarded merit and participation certificates to the participants.
