
Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Pathology departments of College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (CVSAH) in Jalukie town under Peren district jointly organised an awareness programme on “Emerging diseases of pigs and poultry and bio-security measures to be adopted for control and prevention” on November 18.
An update from the college stated that the training programme was organised for the livestock farmers of Jalukie in which a total of 51 farmers attended the awareness programme.
Dean of the college, Dr. I Shakuntala spoke on the importance of animal rearing and adopting bio-security measures for diseases control and prevention. She stated that livestock farmers are well versed with the management aspects and only needed guidance from experts of the college from time to time.
She further wished the programme a fruitful one that would boost their knowledge on emerging diseases and their prevention.
The coordinator of the programme, Dr. Gunjan Das, professor and head of Veterinary Medicine department, while welcoming the participants at the inaugural programme, reiterated about the importance of conducting such awareness programme to sensitize the livestock farmers.
Dr. MG Jayathangaraj, professor and head of Veterinary Clinical Complex department, and Dr. Ravikumar, professor and head of Veterinary Microbiology department, interacted with the farmers.
The resource persons namely Dr. Neithono Kuotsu, assistant professor of Veterinary Medicine department, and Dr. Amrit Gogoi, assistant professor of Veterinary Pathology department, delivered their lectures on the topic and also interacted with the farmers.
Report further stated that farmers were benefitted from the awareness programme.
