Dimapur, Dec. 2: Major General Somnath Jha, VSM (Retd) and a decorated veteran, is on a cycling expedition to pay homage to 21000 fallen heroes of Indian army by visiting their memorials. He will be cycling over 12000 kms on bicycle, travelling every state in the country over a period of seven months.
The journey commenced from Ambala Cantonment on October 19 and after covering various locations in the states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam, the General Officer reached Kohima on December 1.
Flagging in ceremony took place at HQ IGAR (North). The General Officer hung his uniform this year September after successful tenure as a Chief of Staff of 2 Corps in Ambala. Mrs Chitra Jha, wife of the General Officer, is also accompanying on his noble cause.
