Dimapur, Jan. 30 (EMN): Buddhi Thapa, veteran artist from Nagaland, inaugurated the Pop-up art gallery at the ongoing master art workshop at Old NST Bus stand, Kohima, on January 29.
Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his happiness at the initiative being taken to promote art and the budding artists in the state. He encouraged the artists to never give up but work hard towards their vision.
“When we work hard, nature will do the rest. Art has no end, it’s like the vast ocean,” Thapa stated.
He thanked the state government for the support extended towards the artists. He mentioned his dream of seeing an art gallery in the capital to showcase the works of artists from Nagaland.
He informed that Nagaland ranked 4th among the Northeast states in the number of local artists. He stated that there were only two local artists during the state’s first ever art exhibition in 1976.
The master art workshop is being organised by Rattle & Hum Foundation in collaboration with department of art and culture, SCAD - Savannah College of Art and Design Hong Kong, and Himalaya Fine Art, Mumbai.
The event would conclude on January 31 at 3 pm with Alemtemshi Jamir, former chief secretary, as the special guest. Pelesino Ane Kevichusa, executive director of admission, SCAD Hong Kong, would also be present at the closing function.
