MOKOKCHUNG — The Marepkong Youth Association (MYA) on Thursday announced a change in the venue for the 7th Mokokchung Inter-Ward Football Tournament (MIWFT), shifting it from the originally planned Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung to the football ground at Senayangba Government Higher Secondary School in Ungma, Mokokchung district.
The relocation decision came in response to the Election Commission of India's recent announcement of a by-election for the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency, scheduled for April 9, with the Model Code of Conduct now in effect.
This necessitated the venue switch to avoid any potential conflicts or disruptions. The inaugural ceremony is set for March 24 at 11:00 am at the new venue.

Despite the change, the tournament will proceed as originally scheduled, running tentatively from March 24 to April 4. The MYA urged all participants, officials, and supporters to note the updated location and extend their full cooperation for the event's smooth conduct.
The MYA extended thanks to the authorities of Senayangba Government Higher Secondary School for their prompt support and willingness to host the tournament on short notice.
Lanuakum, Deputy Chairperson of the Mokokchung Municipal Council, will attend as the guest of honour.
Organised under the auspices of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), the 7th edition of the MIWFT will feature 14 ward teams competing under the theme “Rise as one".
