Dimapur, May 11 (EMN): Advisor of Tourism, Art and Culture, H Khehovi Yepthomi called upon the Village Development Boards (VDBs) to educate the public in preserving the rich culture and tradition.
Yepthomi stated this while addressing the members of Zunheboto District Village Development Board Association (ZDVDBA) during its 39th annual general conference held on May 9 at district VDB hall, Zunheboto town.
Yepthomi also urged the educated urban dwellers to love their respective villages and impart the importance of preserving the rich culture and tradition.
While acknowledging that many villagers have migrated to urban areas in search of easy life, he reminded of inculcating the basic values of the rich old culture value in life.
Yepthomi, while dwelling upon the vital role of VDB secretaries, stated that development of a particular village entirely depended on them as they represent the government. He stated that VDB secretaries would be considered corrupted if they do not utilised the government funds judiciously accordingly.
He further emphasised on cleanliness of villages and encouraged them to always cultivate the habit of showing hospitality and welcoming attitude towards the people whoever comes to pay a visit to their village.
Meanwhile, the association has elected new team of office bearers for the tenure for 2019-2024 headed by Kahuto Awomi as president, Khehoshe Awomi and Husheto as vice presidents, Vikato M Swu as general secretary, Kughato Zhimo and Sukhaho as secretaries, Kakugha as information secretary, Inito Yeptho as treasure, and Arikato Arhka and Kisheto Chella as advisors.
