Dimapur, August 22 (EMN): The ACAUT in a rejoinder to the Nagaland State Village Development Board Association has today stated that the statements of the association in defence of the government has only indicated the association's involvement in the various scams including the ones questioned by ACAUT.
The ACAUT termed the statement of the association as " important admission, rather the slip of tongue" and done out of ignorance.
Drawing attention of the associations statements of the functioning of the VDBs especially the bank accounts jointly operated by the BDO, village council chairman and the VDB secretary, the ACAUT alleged that all were involved.
"It means that for every accusation of misappropriation of MGNREGA funds in the state as made public or otherwise, the NSVDBA has indirectly admitted that its members are involved in such scams, including the ones raised by the ACAUT.
The press release of the NSVDBA is proof that accusations of blank cheques being given to RDD officers is taking place with the tacit knowledge of the VDB secretaries," stated the press rejoinder from ACAUT.
It further stated that the VDB association's "eagerness" to defend the RD department may result in admitting to the association's "serious collusion to crime".
It stated that the concerned department is "firing from the shoulders of the NSVDBA" when instead it had asked the chief minister, the finance department and the rural development department to explain how the Rs 1188 crore was utilised.
The association is not even a government agency to have to come in defence of the RD department which is beneath the "dignified existence of the NSVDBA".
It also stated that the Rs. 1188 crore is a "serious sum of money" and questioned whether the association is saying that all these amount have been judiciously used and given to beneficiaries.
