Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): The vice chancellor of Nagaland University Pradeshi Lal has urged students to develop their character in a way that they become ‘problem solvers’ and not ‘problem creators.’
The vice chancellor, who was a special guest at the first convocation of Don Bosco College in Kohima, on July 7, expressed appreciation to the Don Bosco institutions and congratulated the toppers, graduates, and the faculty for their contribution to ‘successful pass percentage.’
Informing this in a press release received at the Eastern Mirror office today, quoted the NU VC as saying: “What makes the nation great is the character of its citizens.
The character of the citizens comes from the quality of education imparted in the educational institutions.”
In this connection, the VC said that the Nagas, who are living in ‘a disturbed area’, urged the students to be the problem solvers rather than problem creators.
The vice chancellor, according to the press release, said that ‘there are three kinds of people in the world’
“…the first category take up initiatives due to fear that they may fail; the second category of people take up initiatives but give up due to hurdles; and in the third category, these people take up initiatives and they don’t give up until the goal is achieved. Lal stated that Don Bosco institutions fit into the third category,” the release quoted the VC.
Meanwhile, the principal of the Don Bosco College Kohima, who spoke at the programme, gave a report on the graduates turned out from the college during ‘the three years of its journey’.
The principal disclosed that the current strength of the faculty has reached to 17 with 7 of them having Doctoral Degrees’, the release stated.
Saying that the college has been recognized by the UGC, the principal deeply appreciated the students of DBCK for bringing laurels to the college by bagging two ‘University Gold Medals in their first batch’.
The release further stated that a recent graduate, Manikho gave a speech on behalf of the graduates who thanked management and faculty for mentoring them in the last three years, providing opportunities for growth.
The college graduate further encouraged fellow graduates to climb higher in life and achieved great things for DBCK.
