
DIMAPUR — Various organisations have strongly condemned the demolition of the Naga Club building, which houses the offices of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and All Nagaland College Students’ Union in Kohima on May 27 by unknown miscreants.
APO: The Angami Public Organisation APO) has termed the incident ‘wrong and unjustifiable’ stating that such acts are alien to the cultures and traditions of their ancestors.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]While acknowledging that the grand Naga Club Building has been embroiled in conflict, APO believed that pursuing amicable and lasting solutions to conflicts could only stem from mutual respect and dialogue.
An APO press release issued by its president, Razouvotuo Chatsu, appeal to all concerned to desist from aggravating situations but show compassion in helping resolve the issue in the larger interest of the Nagas.
ASU: The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has appealed to the enforcing agencies to immediately arrest the perpetrators and initiate befitting action as per the law of the land.
ASU has asked the perpetrators to immediately surrender themselves or bear the brunt of the union stating that it would go all out in delivering justice to the NSF and ANCSU. While urging all right-thinking citizens to denounce the act of vandalism, the union informed all its units to be prepared for any action.

ENSF: Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), while condemning the incident, has described as a blatant insult on the aspiration and struggles of the student community in particular and the Naga society as a whole.
It has strongly condemned the act of violence and lawlessness stating that it has threatened the peace and affected the progress of every responsible citizen. It has urged the authorities conduct a swift and thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the despicable act and book under relevant section of the law. It has also urged all its members to condemn the acts of aggression.
ENSF has further expressed solidarity with the NSF and ANCSU.
AYO: The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has termed the incident as an attack on the legacy of the Nagas and appealed to the law enforcing agencies to be prompt in arresting the culprits and punish them befittingly.
It stated that AYO would not tolerate any action that is detrimental to the progress of the Naga society.
AKM: The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has termed the perpetrators as anti-Naga national elements, whose agenda was to destroy the spirit of Naga nationalism completely. AKM has denounced such act and urged the concerned authority to take necessary action at the earliest and assure its unwavering support to the NSF in particular and the Naga people in general in the collective endeavours to build and rebuild not only the physical building but most importantly the Naga nation at this challenging moment.
DNSU: Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), while denouncing the destruction of the historical office of the NSF and ANCSU at the Naga Club Building in Kohima, stated that the perpetrators are anti-Naga and a threat to the entire Naga nation.
DNSU urged upon the concerned authorities to immediately take necessary actions and award befitting punishment. DNSU has further extended unwavering support to the NSF.
KPC: The Kohima Press Club (KPC), whose temporary office was affected following vandalisation of the office of NSF at the Naga Club Building in Kohima, stated that any act of vandalism was unwarranted adding that the act of cowardice has no place in a civilised society. The club has strongly condemned the act and urged upon the authorities concerned to conduct a swift investigation into the whole incident and take action as per the law of the land.
LSU: Lotha Students' Union (LSU) has expressed consternation to learn the existence of such unpatriotic persons in the Naga society and declared all the anti-Naga elements as an act of terrorism and a threat to the entire student community and the Naga people at large. LSU has appealed to all right-thinking citizens to denounce self-vested syndicates, who are out to tarnish the image of pioneers and the history of the Nagas.
LSU further demanded to the concerned authorities to take up the issue on priority and award befitting punishment to the culprits within 24 hours. It also expressed support to the NSF.
RSU: The Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) has termed the act as an open confrontation against every Naga student, youth and the Naga people, which deserved condemnation by every right-thinking citizen.
RSU has demanded the competent authority to book the perpetrators and award befitting award as per the law. The union further extended its full support and cooperation to the NSF in whatever measures and courses of action it might initiate.
SKK: All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) stated that such act of barbarism and cowardice is condemnable at the highest degree. It added that the desire for chaos and conflict mongering ideology should be banished at any cost.
SKK, as one of the federating units of NSF, stated that it was disturbed, agitated and angered upon the vandalism of the parental body office. SKK has appealed to the authority to clinically look for the culprits and sanction or book as per the relevant sections of law.
TUD: The Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) has termed as a black day in the history of the Nagas.
TUD was of the view that any misunderstanding and dissension could be amicably settled without resorting to such despicable actions .While condemning the act, TUD has urged the concerned authority to arrest the culprits and award befitting punishment without any fear or favour.
The union further appealed to all responsible citizens to condemn such act by uncivilised individual or groups.
AZSU-AMN: All Zeliangrong Students’ Union Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) stated that vandalism and tarnishing the image of the most prestigious office of the NSF, which has a great impact on Naga society, was heinous and disgraceful.
It stated that the perpetrators and the act of goondaism should be punished as per the law and condemned by all right-thinking citizens. AZSU-AMN has urged the government and law enforcing agencies to take sincere action against the culprits and bring to justice. It has further extended solidarity with NSF.
