V S Atem has been inducted as one of the seven members of the NSCN-IM today at Camp Hebron, off Dimapur. The rest names are Isak Chisi Swu, Thuingaleng Muivah, Tongmeth Konyak, AK Lungalang, Q Tuccu and Rev Puni.
The Joint council meeting held at CHQ, Hebron today in pursuance of the Joint Council meeting dated November 26, 2015 and subsequent upon the Yaruiwo order dated 6th January, 2016, Gen. Rtd. V.S Atem took an oath taking as a Member, Collective Leadership.
“An economic graduate from St. Anthony, Shillong, Gen. Rtd. VS. Atem joined the Naga Army on September 6, 1973. From a humble beginning as a private in Naga army he becomes the Chief of Army in 1989 till July 24, 1999. Gen. Atem had served our Naga nation in various capacities as Kilo Kilonser, Kiya Kilonser, Chaplee Kilonser, Convenor Steering Committee and also an Emissary to the Collective Leadership.
He is a prominent member to the ongoing Peace Talk between Government of India and NSCN,” the NSCN-IM said in a press release.
Besides, newly inducted 35 Tatars (Members of Parliament), two Deputy Kilonser (Minister of State) and one Steering Committee members also took an oath of allegiance. The NSCN-IM then extended its happiness and wishes them all success in their new responsibility.
