
Dimapur, July 13 (EMN): The office of the Urban Vector Borne Disease Scheme (UVBDS), Dimapur, in collaboration with the Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) observed ‘Anti Dengue Month’ at Hotel Saramati on July 13.
The chief medical officer (CMO) of Dimapur, Dr Moatemjen Jamir, highlighted on the importance of source reduction to control the spread of dengue fever. He also informed the DUCCF to organise cleanliness drive-cum-social work within individual compounds by disposing and removing unnecessary water containers.
The assistant director of UVBDS, Dimapur, Kikolul Khieya, highlighted on transmission, prevention and control measures for dengue fever.
AN update from UVBDS stated that the president of DUCCF, Tsenthungo Nyamo, has appreciated the Medical department for taking the DUCCF on board in various departmental activities under the initiatives of CMO Dimapur and UVBDS Malaria. He also appreciated the Urban Vector Borne Disease Scheme for efficiently distributing long lasting insecticides nets (LLINS) covering all colonies of Dimapur urban areas in 2019.
Meanwhile, UVBDS and DUCCF decided to jointly organise cleanliness drive-cum-social work, every Saturday till November 30, 2022, within individual compounds by disposing and removing water containers unused/ broken flower pots, tyres, crockeries, fridge, trays etc. The two also resolved to fill up the ditches and other unwanted water collection sites around houses and compounds.
