Life is complicated. It starts before we’re ready and
continues while we’re still trying to figure out its point. It is vital that
young people prepare for that journey as soon as they can. We’re lucky because
there is a brief, special time in our lives when we’re meant to gain more
knowledge or skills through Educational Institutions such as Schools and Colleges.
If we agree that the function of Education is to prepare us
for life, then there is very little time to waste long before we get bored. So
we ought to concentrate on learning useful things.
Looking at our present society, some approaches, such as
Courtesy, Critical Thinking, Health, and Society, should be instilled in the
minds of the younger or present generations. The sooner we learn these
approaches, the better.
Today, we’re swamped by facts and opinions. There’s always a
temptation to accept something we are told, especially if it’s well-crafted or
something we agree with. But that’s not what educated people do. Educated
people are rational and reasonable. They look at facts and apply logic.
Critical thinking becomes significantly important as it fosters
decision making, and it enable individuals to analyse, evaluate and synthesise
information effectively. Young adults should be very clear about the various
professions regarding health education such as environmental health, social
health, emotional health, physical health, intellectual health and as well as
reproductive health education
It is also convenient to understand society's approach. The
idea is that all of us are part of something much bigger. We have rights and
responsibilities. We ought to understand what they are and why they are that
way. We have to know a bit about our immediate history, social phenomena, and
geography because we need to have a context to relate to the people around us.
