Dimapur, Dec. 28 (EMN): With the initiative of Usütomi students' union (USU) and Usütomi village council (UVC), Usütomi village has been declared tobacco free village on December 27.
The certificate of tobacco free village was presented by Dr. H Hotokhu Chishi, joint director of health and family welfare and state nodal officer of national tobacco control programme, during the penalty shootout tournament cum inaugural programme of the 58th annual session of the Usütomi students’ union.
USU president, Toino Awomi, stated that Usütomi is the second village to be declared tobacco free village under Zunheboto district. He also mentioned that ban on selling and chewing tobacco in any form was strictly enforced by students’ body, village council and STH Usütomi unit.
During the programme, Dr. H Hotokhu Chishi emphasised upon adverse effects of consuming tobacco. He also encouraged and appreciated the students’ body and council for the successful implementation on ban of tobacco in any form.
The penalty shootout tournament was graced by Joseph Hesso, DIG (HQ) as special guest.
