
DIMAPUR — A delegation from University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya
(USTM) met with the new Governor of Meghalaya, C.H. Vijayashankar, at Raj Bhawan in Shillong on Thursday.
An update received here on Friday informed that the USTM team comprising Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque; Prof. G.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor; Dr. R.K. Sharma, Advisor; and Dr. Mehjabeen Rahman, Principal Secretary briefed the progress of the university and discussed upcoming projects.
The delegation also extended an invitation to the Governor to preside over the Convocation-2024, given his role as the University's Visitor, which the latter expressed his full support and commitment to the varsity’s development throughout his tenure.
Hoque highlighted USTM’s outreach activities, noting that the university operates programmes within a 30-km radius of the campus, offering free education to local children, said the press release. “Currently, nearly 20 percent of USTM's students benefit from this initiative,” it added.
