Dimapur Dec. 21: The United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) officials on Thursday visited the families whose homes were reduced to ashes last week after a cadre from GPRN/NSCN- Unification reportedly set the houses on fire.
The USLP officials had a brief consultative meeting with the stakeholders of the village, Council Members and GBs after Kilongser GPRN/NSCN-U Hukato allegedly set several houses on fire on Dec. 10, damaging properties, read a statement from the organisation.
They ‘lamented and condemn the cowardly act of Hukato for manhandling the villagers, not even sparing women and children and threatening them of dire consequences through his bodyguards with sophisticated weapons which is totally against the cease fire ground rules between the government of India and the group.’
The USLP has demanded the GPRN/NSCN-U to publicly “clarify its stand on this issue whether the government authorised him to raze the village.” It also strongly demand and pressurise the government to expedite the investigation as per the FIR lodged in connection to the issue and immediately arrest the accused for taking the law into his hand. It also sternly cautioned the government that failure to take action would force it to take “its own course of action.”
The USLP also asked the state government to provide immediate relief to the displaced families at the earliest.
