
DIMAPUR — Ura Zuveh Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, observed the ‘World Ozone Day’ at Netaji Camp Site in Chesezu village under Phek district on September 16.
An update from Ura Zuveh Foundation stated that B Elizabeth Hemso, lecturer at Government Polytechnic, Chetheba, and Vekhole Rhakho, assistant headmaster of GHS in Chesezu, attended the programme as the resource persons. The resource persons spoke on “Fixing the ozone layer and reducing climate change” in both English and local languages to raise awareness about the critical role played by the ozone layer in protecting life on Earth.
To mark the occasion, an inter-school drawing competition was also held for five categories. In the senior secondary category, Wemeche of Government Polytechnic Chetheba won the first position, while Kedayhun Khing from Government Polytechnic Chetheba won the second prize and Rhuto Lohe from Government Polytechnic Chetheba won the third prize.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In the secondary category, Besukhoto from GHS Chesezu won the first position, while Theputo Nyekha from GHS Chesezu and Mutsilu Ringa of GHS Chesezu won the second and third prizes respectively.
In the middle category, Luvolu of Tsuswu School won the first position, while Nukruto Nyekha from GPS Basa and Mutsivoyi from Tsuswu School won the second and third positions respectively. In the primary category, Nuphizo Nienu from Morning Star School won the first position, while Thujoselu from Tsuswu School and Nuvotalu from Morning Star School won the second and third prizes respectively. In the differently-abled category, Besuvolu Swuro from GPS, Chesezu Nasa won the first position.
It stated that cash prizes along with citations were given to all the category winners.
Altogether, 221 students and teachers attended the programme and took part in a walk for ozone awareness.
