Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): United Naga Tribes Association on Border Areas (UNTABA) resolved that the inter-state boundary between Assam and Nagaland should be settled at the time of political settlement and to immediately review the interim agreement of 1972 and 1979 and all other related agreements or MoUs keeping in mind the historical and traditional boundaries of the Naga peoples.
The resolution to this effect was taken during a public meeting held at Tzudikong on April 20 hosted by Tuli Area Joint Council Forum (TAJCF).
Besides, the members also resolved removing or revoking Disputed Area Belt (DAB) considering the historical facts and the rights of the Naga people.The members also urged the State government to consider deployment of Nagaland Armed Police at the border areas and to set up polling stations in all the Naga villages in the border areas as per the franchise rights of the electorate.
Parliamentary Secretary of Irrigation and Flood Control, N Jacob Zhimomi, also addressed the meeting on the behalf of the State government and explained the stand point and seriousness on the issue. He appreciated the initiatives undertaking by UNTABA.
Among others who attended and address the meeting included former minister K Tiameren Aier, former MLAs L Temjen Jamir and Shami Angh, president Kughalu Aye, Border Peace Coordination Committee Sector A,B,C WY Kithan and H Chingjei Konyak.
The meeting was attended by all the border districts namely Peren, Dimapur, Wokha, Longleng, Mokokchung and Mon.
