
Dimapur, Dec. 13 (EMN): Nagaland along with the rest of the country observed Universal Health Coverage Day cum Accredited Social Health Activist (Asha) felicitation programme on Monday.
Wokha: Dr. Zuben Kikon, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Wokha spoke about the performance of Ashas in carrying out healthcare activities and encouraged them to continue working efficiently and consistently in order to provide maximum health coverage to beneficiaries.
Three best performing urban ashas from wokha town were felicitated with certificates and cash by Dr. Tumchobeni Kikon, Chief Medical Officer Wokha. The best performing ashas Loyulo, Zuchobeni and Ziony also shared their experiences on various health activities and challenges they faced while performing their duties. The programme was chaired by Dr. Achumi Kikon, Medical Officer, Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) and it was attended by UPHC staff, district programme management unit staff and ashas.
Mokokchung: Dr. Aonungdok, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung addressed participants on the significance of the day at Chief Medical Officer Office conference hall, Mokokchung.
He said that everyone deserves access to quality health services without suffering financial hardships. He added that observation of Universal Health Coverage Day brings out the voices of the people awaiting a better health system. He further cited the important role played by ashas as they deal with the community at the grassroots and are responsible for encouraging patients to seek medical attention at the nearest district hospital, on timely vaccination, ANC etc., along with reporting of feedback and problems faced by the community in respect of health services.
Dr. Ayangla Saku, DPO(UIP&RCH), while felicitating the ashas praised their hardwork and encouraged them to carry forward their dedication in the days ahead. She also praised their tireless contributions in the ongoing pandemic.
Urban ashas, Tialemla of AlempangImsuinla Ao Tongdentsuyong and Temjenrenla of Sangtemla were awarded state-level certificate of recognition for their contributions as ashas in the district. All the urban ashas were felicitated with tokens of appreciation by the chief medical officer.
Dimapur: Universal Health Coverage Day 2021 and Urban Ashas felicitation programme were held at CMO’s office chamber in Dimapur.
Dr. Moatemjen, Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, stated that Universal Health Coverage Day is observed with a vision to make quality and affordable healthcare more accessible without falling into financial hardship. He further urged the urban ashas to continue helping in building a better future for generations to come. He further requested them to work hard and identify gaps to ensure that everyone has access to healthcare, especially during Urban Health Nutrition Day (UHND) and outreach sessions as they are the bridge between the public and the Health department. He also stressed on the works of the Mahila Arogya Samithi (MAS) in all the colonies and requested the ashas to work together with MAS for maximum benefits for the communities.
Dr. Antoly Suu, Dy. Chief Medical Officer also thanked the urban ashas for their tireless work and contribution, especially during the current pandemic. She also added that in order to prevent future pandemic and provide quality healthcare for all, equity in healthcare should be prioritised.
During the programme, the following urban ashas were felicitated based on their performance and contributions while performing their duties -- Ajungla Imsong, Ward 20-Imkonglenden, Imlirenla Pongen, Ward 5- Power House, and Ashebui, Ward 3- Naga Colony. The ashas were each awarded with a cash prize and a certificate.
Tuensang: Tuensang observed Universal Health Coverage Day cum Asha felicitation programme under the chairmanship of District Consultant NUHM Mr. Peshie, at Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Tuensang.
During the programme, Dy. Chief Medical Officer Tuensang Dr. Moatemjen congratulated the best performing ashas and also encouraged all the ashas to rededicate and perform their duties well in the days to come. He also gave away the certificates to the three ashas for their best performance.
The programme was attended by Dy. Chief Medical Officer, district consultant NUHM, UPHC staff, BAC Tuensang Sadar block and ashas.
