DIMAPUR — A
three-day closing programme of the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival-cum-Pre
Christmas celebration was held at the DC’s office complex on December 7.
The deputy chief minister and minister in-charge of Planning
and Transformation and National Highways, TR Zeliang, attended the event as the
special guest and the NZPO president, Zandi Domta as the chief host.
Addressing the gathering, Zeliang has thanked all the
members of the organising committee for their efforts and sacrifice in making the
Unity Mini Hornbill Festival a grand success. He encouraged all the government
officers and staff of various departments to work for the public with
enthusiasm.
He called upon the officers to come back with renewed vigour
and new spirit post New Year to build up the new DC complex and model township
together in order to fulfill the cherished dream of the pioneers. He added that
nothing is impossible when people remain united and have the will power.
He further wished that the promise of peace and hope for the
future that comes with Christmas be ignited in everyone.
Zandi Domta, in his short speech, thanked the deputy
commissioner and organising committee for inviting him to be a part of the
event. He described the incumbent deputy commissioner of Peren as dedicated
officer, who has been working tirelessly for the uplift of the people in the
district.
With the celebration of Unity Mini Hornbill Festival, Zandi
called for unity and oneness among the people of Peren district in order to
take the district forward.
Earlier, the pastor of KBA (N), Rev. Tongpu Singson, said an
invocation prayer, followed by welcome address delivered by the president of
Rongmei Council Peren, Jangdiat Gonmei.
The programme witnessed a meaningful Christmas message
shared by the principal of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, Fr. Dr.
Francis
Cheerangal, special presentation by Winner of Peren Voice Impact Season 9,
Keyicitube Nza and distribution of prizes and certificates to the winners of
various competitive events by the special guest and chief host.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by
the convenor of planning committee.
