Chief Minister TR Zeliang said, unity is the only key to come to a permanent solution and peace in the State.
Speaking as chief guest on the 6th day of the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama today, he said, celebrating Hornbill festival together with different cultures and traditions of Nagaland shows unity and that it spreads Nagas’ identity to the entire world.
The chief minister congratulated all the cultural troupes for showing the uniqueness of Naga culture and unity at the Hornbill festival. He also said that citizens can log into Nagaland Tourism website and give their remarks.
Consulate General of France Kolkata, Damien Syed who was the guest speaker stated that he was delighted to grace the occasion in Nagaland and appreciated the unique culture and traditions of the people. He congratulated the performers and thanked the government of Nagaland for inviting him to the festival. He also mentioned that France is teaming up with Nagaland in sections like the urban development, hydro energy and also in agriculture specifically with teak farming to build an economic bridge.
In his concluding remarks, Minister for School Education & SCERT, Yitachu mentioned that coming of the 16 tribes together for the festival shows the unity and strength among the Nagas. The festival also acts as a platform not only for the Nagas to showcase their culture and traditions but also to educate the visitors the rich culture of the state, he added. The Minister thanked all tourists on behalf of the cultural troupes and also thanked the troupes for their wonderful performance.
The chief minister released balloons to mark the celebration of the hornbill festival and also released the catalogue of exportable bamboo products of Nagaland by Industries & Commerce Dept.
The cultural troupes who performed on the day-6 of the Hornbill Festival included Apoksah village Cultural Troupe (Pochury) - Sahdakhu (folk dance), Lizumi Village Cultural Troupe (Sumi) - Akikihi (Folk game), Garo Cultural Troupe (Erali Bill) Dimapur - Ading Sala (folk dance), Chumshu M.P.S Society (Waoshu Village) (Chang) - The Cultivators Song (Do-Net) (folk song), Kuki Cultural Troupe (Maova) (Kuki) - Vakol Lam (folk dance), Pungthu Cultural Troupe Pungro Town (Yimchunger) - Folk Dance, Viswema Youth Organisation (Angami) - Kijiisa lu (Folk song), Akholongshi Cultural Sporting Club (Ao) - Sari Jeli Jebshi (advance practice), Longchang Cultural Troupe (Mon) Konyak - Phoong Shihpu (Prediction) Folk Drama
Meanwhile, cultural troupes performed unity dance. Cultural troupes who performed in the afternoon session included Old Peren Cultural Troupe (Zeliang) - Hiecha Lim (Folk dance), Chimonger (Thingri Cultural Club C/Khel) Village Cultural Troupe (Sangtam) - Athrerii Khang Ningsejii Khi (folk song), Tamlu Buhu Union Dimapur (Phom) - Ashak Dakpii (Traditional Weaving), Dimasa Cultural Troupe Dimapur (Kachari) - Balkhon/Baijubu (Serpentine Dance) Lotsu Village Cultural Club, (Lotha) - Spinning / Weaving Demonstration, (folk drama), Zapami Kuzha Cultural Society (Chakhesang) - Ha Kepfo Lu (Folk Song), Zisunyu Village Cultural Troupe (Rengma) - Display of cotton spinning (Folk display), Wui Village Cultural Troupe (Khiamniungan) - Ahang (folk dance).
