DIPHU — The United Women Forum of Karbi Anglong (UWFKA) on Tuesday staged a massive protest in Diphu, burning an effigy of Gaurav Gogoi, APCC President and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Parliament, at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School playground.
The protest was sparked by Gogoi’s alleged comments made during his recent two-day visit to Karbi Anglong on July 4-5.

Protesters marched through Diphu, carrying placards and chanting slogans like ‘Gaurav Gogoi go back,’ as they made their way from the school playground through the main market and back, expressing their strong opposition.
Addressing the media, UWFKA President Kasang Terangpi said, “On July 5, the newly appointed APCC President Gaurav Gogoi visited Karbi Anglong and made anti-tribal remarks. He didn't come for political purposes but to oppose tribal development welfare, which we strongly condemn.”
