Kohima, August 24 (EMN): United 16 FC narrowly defeated Addax FC by a solitary goal at the ongoing Kohima Football League at the Kohima local ground on Thursday.
With the win, United 16 FC temporarily moved above Khriekesa FC to top the Kohima Football League table with 11 points from 6 matches. On the other hand, Khriekesa FC with 10 points has a match on hand against Ziekezou SC on Saturday.
During the match, both the teams failed to create much chance and played a goalless draw in the first half.
Longkhoi had his chance to give the lead for United 16 FC in the second half but his shot hit the woodwork.
With the match ending in a scoreless draw, Nungsang scored the much-needed goal to secure three important points with 10 minutes remaining. Captain Jonathan Kiso latched a through ball inside the D-box area and Nungsang collected the ball and coolly converted the goal into the back of the net in the 80th minute.
With the talisman Imlongchaba out of the match due to a suspension, Addax FC team failed to create scoring opportunities during the game.
The best chance came from Keviphretuo Kire in the 84th minute when his long range kick was blocked by goalkeeper Nughato.
During the match, two yellow cards were cautioned to captain Medoneituo Sekhose, Vikethozo Zhotso of Addax FC.
Rovilatuo Mor (IAS), Secretary Home, Government of Nagaland was the match patron of the day.
