Dimapur, June 9 : The Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Thaawarchand Gehlot, has said that the Narendra Modi government will work for development that would see the state of Nagaland progressing ‘very fast.’
He was addressing the 2nd anniversary of BJP-led NDA government in Nagaland at the Agri Expo Dimapur on Thursday.
Gehlot alleged that corruption in the country was ‘highest during the UPA-I and UPA-II’ governments and claimed that Prime Minister Modi had ‘given a corruption-free government in the last two years.’ With such development in the country, Gehlot claimed, ‘nobody can question the ruling government on corruption.’
In the words of Gehlot, during (former Prime Minister) Atal Bihari Vajpayee’ s time, a separate ministry was created for the northeastern states for development and now Narendra Modi as the prime minister was ‘continuing the development works in the Northeast.’ Under Modi Government, Nagaland will progress ‘very fast,’ the politician asserted.
Highlighting the achievements of the BJP-led NDA government as the NPF-led DAN government celebrates its 2nd anniversary too, Gehlot said that the two years of the NDA government have seen ‘how the government has performed and now they have full trust and faith on this government.’ He said even after getting majority during the last Lok Sabha polls, the BJP forged alliance with other parties and continued to run the government at the centre. In Nagaland, he said, the BJP-NPF alliance will also focus on development of Nagaland.
Talking about the GDP growth in the country, he reiterated that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister, the financial condition was very bad and even the GDP was below 4%. However, in the 6 years that Vajpayee ruled the GDP was raised to 8.4%.
Lauding Modi for his ‘statesmanship,’ the minister said that the prime minister had ‘been able to take the GDP growth from 4.4% to 7.9% in the last two years.’ He alleged that the UPA government had ‘three best economists, but the GDP went down drastically.’
Zeliang sees NE ruled by BJP-NDA in next election
The chief minister of Nagaland has lionized the prime minister of India as, in the words of the former, a “game changer as far as development of the region and emotional integration of the people with the mainland is concerned.” TR Zeliang said on Thursday that Narendra Modi was a ‘game changer’ for ‘development of the region and emotional integration of the people.’
The ‘media cell’ of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued a statement–stated in Third-Person–on Thursday praising the BJP leader.
“Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang said the people of the Northeast are already looking up to the Prime Minister as the game changer as far as development of the region and emotional integration of the people with the mainland is concerned,” the CMO stated of Zeliang.
In the CMO’s words: “The people of the northeast are already looking up to the prime minister as a game changer, as far as development of the region and emotional integration of the people with the mainland is concerned…the spectacular performance of the BJP-led alliance in the neighboring state of Assam last month is an indication that the people of the northeast acknowledges the performance of the NDA government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
The press release said that the chief minister was speaking at the 2nd anniversary of the NDA government on June 8 at Agri Expo in Dimapur. “Compared to the mainland, the number of unemployed youth in the NE region is not that large; and I think it would be possible to tackle the problem effectively even within a time frame of the next 3 years or so. These plans and strategies should be targeted to the year 2019, the year of the next Lok Sabha election,” the handout stated.
Zeliang is also said to have suggested that the BJP and its NDA allies in the northeast region work out a “strategy of cooperation” and “adjustments” through the newly formed North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) platform. This way, he stated, “before the next Lok Sabha election in 2019, all the states in the North East region would be ruled by allies of the NEDA.”
“This will ensure that at least two-third of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the N.E region would be bagged by the BJP & its allies (NEDA).”
The praise for Modi continued. “The BJP led NDA government under Shri Narendra Modi ji has already completed two years in office, and it is a matter of satisfaction that so many positive changes have already taken place,” the CMO claimed. Zeliang was attributed to having said that the NDA government had introduced a number of “path-breaking reforms” during these two years to “revive the stagnant economy” besides “simultaneously introduced a number of innovative anti-poverty measures for the common people.”
“Most of them are the brain-child of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi himself,” Zeliang gushed.
The chief minister stated further that it was “a matter of great satisfaction” that in Nagaland, the BJP and the NPF had been “steady partners” under the banner of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland since its inception in 2003. “Our partnership has been indeed going strong for the last 13 years; and we are confident that this will continue with renewed vigour in the years to come,” the politician said.
“I am sure that the remaining three years of this term will see great strides being made in transforming India into a vibrant and strong nation, which will ensure the return of this Government in 2019, and also much beyond,” the CMO’s release added.
