- DIMAPUR — Union
Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism, Suresh Gopi, on
Wednesday held discussion with the department officers and leaders of civil
societies in Niuland in regards to implementation of various centrally
sponsored schemes (CSS) on the ground and advised to speed up the remaining
projects that are yet to be implemented.
- Acknowledging that Nagaland should have been positioned
better than what it is today, the minister asserted that Nagaland has huge and
wide scope for tourism and its resources but there are some constitutional and
revenue issues that need to be addressed.
- The minister also appealed to work together, deliberate and
assess the capacity works that the department and officials have put forward to
have rapid action schemes in the days ahead, stated a DIPR report.

- The deputy commissioner (DC) of Niuland, Sara S Jamir, in
her welcome address, said that Niuland, being the new and underdeveloped
district, the presence of the minister in the district was a manifestation of
his true commitment for reaching out to the unreached people and bringing
development to the door steps of common people at the grassroots.
- It stated that powerpoint on various centrally sponsored
schemes were presented by the departments of PHED, DRDA, Agriculture, Mission
Vatsalya, Industries and Commerce and School Education.
- The president of Niuland District Gaonburas’ Association and
Niuland Area Citizens’ Forum also spoke at the programme and handed over their
respective representations to the minister.
- Later, the minister visited Government High School Nito in
Nikhekhu village and interacted with the school authorities and students. The
programme was chaired by the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Niuland, S
Athsangla.
