DIMAPUR — Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Social Justice and Empowerment, BL Verma, on Thursday inspected the palm oil plantation site at Chümoukedima village and the Health and Wellness Centre at Diphupar B in Chümoukedima district. The visit formed part of Verma’s ongoing tour of the state.
During his visit to the palm oil plantation, Verma interacted with local farmers and officials and reviewed the progress of cultivation under the National Edible Oil – Oil Palm initiative, according to a DIPR update.
He said palm oil cultivation is important for enhancing farmers’ income, promoting self-reliance in edible oil production and strengthening the rural economy of the region.
At the Health and Wellness Centre in Diphupar B, the minister inspected the facilities and interacted with healthcare workers. He took stock of the services being provided and said the government is committed to strengthening primary healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.
