
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Bishweswar Tudu, who was on a two-day visit to the state, visited Seithekema ‘A’ village under Chümoukedima district to inspect the works carried out under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
During interaction with the villagers, Tudu stated that after 75 years of independence, villages have been made accessible to tap connections at their household level under Narendra Modi's leadership, stated an update from the PHE department.
He enquired from the villagers if there was any difference after implementation of JJM to which they responded that water now is regular and adequate. Tudu was happy that the villagers are operating the distribution system and collecting INR 30 per month as user’s charge.
It stated the village chairman, Kelengulie Khro, warmly received the minister along with other members of the village council and WATSAN committee. He has thanked the prime minister, Narendra Modi, for his visionary leadership in bringing the basic needs of the villagers to the forefront and improving the quality of living.
He also acknowledged Jacob Zhimomi, minister of PHED, for taking up the project in the village under this scheme ahead of others.
It was reported that under JJM, Seithekema ‘A’ village has been taken up as a retrofitting scheme and completed during 2021. Around 93 households have been provided with functional household tap connection thus fulfilling the aspirations of the mission.
The union minister was accompanied by officials from PHED including officers from PHED rural division, Dimapur, and EAC Seithekema.
