Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): A community organisation in Dimapur has demanded stringent punishment for a youth the group accused of burglary and attempt to murder a citizen, on April 17 in Dimapur.
The Ao Senso Telongjem of Dimapur (ASTD) issued a press relese on Wednesday expressing anger and outrage at the alleged crime.
The ASTD denounced what it called ‘barbaric and inhuman act’ allegedly by one Imtisungchet, aged about 21 years, and a resident of Aoyimkum village in Dimapur. The accused person was said to have broken into the house of a Toshinaro, no surname given, on the night of April 17 “for committing burglary and subsequent attempt to murder thereby heinously beaten her causing grievous injury to her body until she confronted the accused with heroic stunt.” (sic)
The ASTD lauded the citizen for her ‘stunning act of bravery which gives a sense of bold patriotism amongst the general public and the womenfolk in particular against such perpetrating elements.’
“The ASTD while extending its heartfelt gratitude to the Dimapur Women Police and other law enforcing agencies for its rapid initiative in apprehending the criminal and further urge and ensure that due justice be delivered to the victim and an exemplary punishment be awarded to the culprit as per the appropriate sections of law,” the
organisation stated.
