Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): Union Minister of Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman announced to allocate an amount of INR 1500 crore under Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE), while presenting the Budget 2022-23 on Tuesday.
Sitharaman said that the new scheme -- PM-DevINE -- will fund infrastructure in the spirit of PM GatiShakti and social development projects based on felt needs of the Northeast. She stated that the scheme will be implemented through the North Eastern Council.
She also shared that the scheme will enable livelihood activities for youth and women. She maintained that the new scheme will not be a substitute for existing central or state schemes. While the central ministries may also pose their candidate projects, priority will be given to those posed by the states, she added.
