
‘Union Budget - 2023-2024’ taken up by the Union government on Feb. 1 last was commendable and mainly focused on the development of middle-class families, students and farmers with special focus for the welfare of the tribal communities of Northeast, said Horensing Bey, Member of Parliament (MP) Autonomous District (ST) Parliamentary Constituency during a press conference held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Diphu on Wednesday.
MP Bey said that the budget focussed on sectorslike Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas- inclusive development, reaching the last mile, infrastructure and investment, unleashing the potential-trust based governance, green growth, Amrit Peedhi-Youth power and financial sector.
Bey highlighted that the budget set for the upliftment of Tribal communities, especially on education development, an amount of INR 15000 crore has been taken up. Also, teachers are to be recruited for 740 Eklavya Model Residential schools across India including Karbi Anglong district where one school is under construction at Balipathar and for West Karbi Anglong it will be sanctioned soon.
A total of 48,800 teachers including staff will be recruited. In the health sector, comparatively the budget has also increased; for self-independence, especially for the educated unemployed youth the bank will disburse loans as it is included in the budget.
