Mokokchung, Dec. 21 (EMN): Season Star Club (SSC), Ungma, a proactive club in the field of cultural activity, sports and social activities, observed its Foundation Day-cum-Academic Excellence Award programme at Babu Tzubu Amphitheatre, here on Friday.
Moasangba Jamir, President NPF Mokokchung Division graced the programme as the guest of honour.
In his speech, the guest of honour described Ungma as the ‘epicentre’ of Ao oral tradition and custom, a land that has produced numerous luminaries in the field of education and political leadership and a village that has embraced Christianity wholeheartedly.
Jamir lauded the present club members for following the footsteps of the founding fathers who displayed exemplary dedication in the service of the society and brought laurels to the people of Ungma and to the state through their participation in cultural, music and other social activities. He also praised the club for its noble initiation to give away academic awards to various achievers and encouraging the students to work harder to get the prestigious awards.
He urged the club to understand the responsibilities and role they should play for the development of the Naga society. He further urged the people of Ungma not to divide among themselves because of electioneering process but rather forgive and forget the bitter rivalry and remain as ‘one village, one people, one Church.”
In this connection, he also called upon the youths, various groups and clubs in the village to bring social and political change to the society.
It may be mention that the club has been giving away Academic Excellence Award and other awards in the field of sports, social service, music etc to the citizens of Ungma for the past three decades.
Earlier during the programme, C Imkongwati Lkr, SDO (elect) Changtongya presided over the Academic Excellence Awards ceremony, president of Season Star Club delivered the welcome address and Limayanger Jamir Tatar exhorted the gathering. It was followed by entertainment where artists like Mulung Imsong, Alicia and SSR Youngster enthralled the audience.
