Dimapur, May 19 : A group calling itself the Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) has warned of phased agitations against the tainted department of Food & Civil Supplies should the latter fail in canceling alleged “irregular and anomalous appointments” of grade-III employees in said department. The NPRAAF issued a statement on Thursday alleging that the department had engaged in shady, ‘backdoor appointments,’ to push in 73 employees. Even amid the demand, the department went ahead and appointed three more LDAs, the organization stated.
“NPRAAF is demanding the cancellation of backdoor appointments of 73 grade-III employees. In the midst of this demand, the department showed utter disregard to the issue of irregular appointments taken up by NPRAAF, and went ahead in appointing three more LDAs on 10 March 2016,” the organization said.
“The resultant vacancies of these 73+3=76 grade-III employees should be declared vacant and open competition should be held in the interest of justice and tens of thousands of educated unemployed youth in the state.”
Demanding cancellation of said appointments, the NPRAAF submitted a representation to the director of Food & Civil Supplies to meet the demand within 30 days starting May 19. “Several other irregularities have also been detected by the NPRAAF and the department have been asked to make its stand on the anomalies,” they said.
The NPRAAF informed to have in store phased agitations ‘to bring the issue of all irregular and anomalous appointments in the department to a logical conclusion.’
“Any situation arising out of such democratic protests would be the sole look out and responsibility of the department of F&CS since by that time, the NPRAAF would have given enough time to the department to settle the issue logically. After the expiry of 30 days, NPRAAF will have no option but to resort to its planned phase wise democratic protests to bring the issue to a logical conclusion,” the NPRAAF stated.
