Sibsagar (Assam), May 28 (PTI): Suspected anti-peace talk ULFA (I) militants triggered an explosion at a gas pipeline in Charaideo district, police said today.
The explosion was triggered by the suspected militants at the pipeline of Assam Gas Company Ltd at Teokghat, Additional Superintendent of Police L Das said.
There was no injury or casualty reported in the blast, which took place at around 7.30 pm on Saturday, Das said.
The pipeline, supplying gas to the tea gardens, power projects and domestic consumers in upper Assam, was being repaired, he said.
ULFA (I) claims responsibility
Dimapur, May 28 (EMN): The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA- Independent) has informed that the Front is responsible of Dikom and Sonari gas pipeline blast on May 26 and 27 respectively.
In a press release issued by Major Arunudoy Asom, Assistant Information & Publicity secretary ULFA-Independent stated that their plan was to protest against the natural resource exploitation by colonial government of India in Assam and further warn that more action would be carried out severely than earlier.
