The three municipalities of Nagaland namely Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP), All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) and Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), along with other 36 town councils from various districts of Nagaland have convened an emergency consultative meeting on March 21 at Hotel 2K in Kohima.
In a press release, AKMWP stated the meeting of the three municipalities and 36 town councils is urgently necessitated in view of the Urban Local Body elections announced by the state government.
Therefore, in this regard, the association has asked all town councils to send at least one representative each from the respective councils.
Thejao Sekhose, convenor, AKMWP/AWUMT/DUCCF, informed Eastern Mirror that they are going to discuss various pressing matters pertaining to the amendment of Nagaland Municipal Act 2021.
He said they would come up with a resolution, during the meeting, adding that they are in touch with different town councils throughout the state and expecting a large turnout on the day.
