DIMAPUR — The scrutiny of nomination papers and first phase training of polling personnel for the ULB election to municipal and town councils were conducted in various districts.
Kohima: The first phase training of polling personnel of the ULB election to the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and Chiephobozou Town Council (CTC) was held at Kohima College, Kohima on Friday. Secretary and election observer of KMC, Anthony Ngully briefed the polling personnel on the election process. EAC Kezocha, Molosangla was the officer in-charge of the training. A total of 80 polling officials attended the training, a DIPR report stated.
Wokha: The training of polling personnel was held at DC’s conference hall, Wokha. Additional Secretary and election observer for Wokha Town Council, Hiazu Meru urged all the polling personnel to take their assigned duty with outmost sincerity and dedication. He said that the success of the electioneering process depend on their performance and requested the polling officials to take care of their respective polling stations for smooth and peaceful conduct of the election. Later, the election observer inspected all the polling stations.
Meanwhile, scrutiny of nomination papers to the Wokha Town Council election was held at the office chamber of the ADC and returning officer, Wokha on June 13. After scrutinising the papers, the ADC and RO, K Furhesie Nyuwi announced that all the nomination papers were found to be valid.
Niuland: The first phase training of polling officers for Niuland Town Council (NTC) was held on Friday at DC conference hall. The training programme was chaired by Tiayanger Jamir, SDO (C) Kuhuboto and nodal officer. Earlier, welcome speech was given by S Athsangla, ADC and returning officer, NTC. She called upon all polling personnel to carry out their duties sincerely. The district level master trainers Vitoka Yepthomi, EAC Niuland and Dr. Amenla, district fishery officer, gave detailed explanation on the duties and roles of the polling officers.
Pungro: ADC and RO, Pungro, Vekusheyi Rhakho conducted scrutiny of the nomination papers for Pungro Town Council, Kiphire district, in the presence of election observer Renabomo Odyuo, on June 13. Eight nomination papers filed by the candidates were scrutinised at the office of ADC and RO, Pungro. Following the review, all eight candidates were declared eligible to contest in the election across the eight wards of Pungro Town Council.
