UIDAI launches a special Aadhaar Vahan drive in Wokha to improve enrolment and provide services in remote areas
DIMAPUR — The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Regional Office, Guwahati, in coordination with the Wokha district administration, launched a special Aadhaar Vahan drive in Wokha district, on October 22 to improve Aadhaar enrolment coverage and reach residents in remote and far-flung areas.
The initiative aims to cover people who have been left out of the Aadhaar enrolment process, particularly in districts with lower enrolment coverage, the UIDAI RO Guwahati stated in a press release.
Under the drive, the Aadhaar Vahan will travel across Wokha district to provide accessible Aadhaar enrolment services to residents of all age groups closer to their homes.
The UIDAI has encouraged residents of Wokha to take advantage of the initiative and avail themselves of the services.

The Aadhaar Vahan campaign is also expected to be launched in other districts of Nagaland with low Aadhaar enrolment coverage in the coming days.
The UIDAI has also urged children and students to complete their Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) at the ages of five and 15 to ensure the accuracy of their biometric data.
As per existing rules, failure to complete the mandatory biometric update within the prescribed age windows of five to seven years and 15 to 17 years may result in the Aadhaar number being deactivated.
An updated Aadhaar record with current biometric details facilitates the seamless use of Aadhaar for services such as school admissions, entrance examination registration, scholarship benefits, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes and the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID, wherever applicable, the release stated.
The UIDAI has cautioned that failure to update biometric details may cause difficulties in Aadhaar-based authentication when accessing these services and benefits.
