The diktat and threats from underground workers against businessmen and citizens continue unabated. The Dimapur Longsai Ekhung (DLE) on Thursday condemned what it said was the ‘life threat’ issued to a member of the community by a cadre of the underground group NSCN (R).
The community organization has demanded that the passive state government and law enforcing agencies to start acting action the constant assault on the rights of citizens.
Pankathung Lotha of Longsa village, near Wokha town, is alleged to have been threatened by one Abemo, a man stated to be a member of NSCN (R), the DLE’s not mentioned.
Supporting four resolutions said to have been adopted in a joint meeting held on November 15 convened by the Longsa Village Council, the Dimapur Longsai Ekhung said in the statement that the district and government authorities including the police must act as demanded by the community.
The organization urged the authorities in concern such as the district administration, the police and also the NSCN (R) group to act as demanded by the Longsa Village Council “with utmost stern and appropriate action that the peaceful atmosphere of the forth coming festive season is not disturbed in any manner.”
“The Dimapur Longsai Ekhung further urged all right thinking citizens and organizations to condemned such acts and tactics to collect money forcefully from individuals, organizations, business communities and even from government servants in the name of so called tax,” the statement said. The note was appended by Sebastian Ezung, general secretary of the DLE.
