UGC confers autonomous status St. Jospeh’s College Jakhama

Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): The University Grants Commission (UGC) has conferred autonomous status to St. Joseph’s College Jakhama, NAAC re-accredited with Grade-A (CGPA 3.12). On the basis of the report of the UGC expert committee, the standing committee in its meeting held on Sep. 20 decided to grant autonomous status to St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama affiliated to Nagaland University for a period of ten years with effect from 2018- 2019 to 2027- 2028 under the UGC scheme for autonomous colleges. A notification issued by joint secretary of UGC, Dr Surender Singh vide on Oct. 11directed the registrar, Nagaland University to issue necessary notification/order regarding the grant of autonomous status to the college as per UGC Regulations, 2018 for autonomous colleges. The college, if eligible, shall apply for autonomy grant as per the norms laid down in the regulations. An autonomous college is required to abide by all the provisions of the UGC regulations for autonomous colleges. The college shall apply in the prescribed format to UGC for extension of autonomous status six month to the expiry of the autonomous cycle, the DIPR updated.
