Winners of the Niuland District U-14 Catch Them Young Sepaktakraw Tournament 2025 with officials and organisers at Grace Academy, Dimapur, on Saturday.


DIMAPUR — The Dimapur and Niuland district U-14 Catch Them Young Sepaktakraw Tournament 2025 concluded at Grace Academy, Burma Camp, Dimapur, on Saturday.


The two-day event, organised under the All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA), Dimapur Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, began on September 19 with the participation of 11 schools from Dimapur and two from Niuland, stated an update.


The final match was kicked off by Fr. Bryan Antony D’Souza, headmaster of Genesia School, Kuhoboto.


In the boys’ category for Dimapur, Greenwood School secured first place, while St. Thomas Higher Secondary School finished second. In the girls’ category for Dimapur, Lorna’s Higher Secondary School took the top position, followed by St. Thomas Higher Secondary School.

In the boys’ category for Niuland, Genesia School emerged as the winner, while Shepherd School came second. In the girls’ category for Niuland, Genesia School claimed first place, and Shepherd School finished second.


Holy Cross Higher Secondary School received the Best Discipline Award. The champions, along with the 1st and 2nd runners-up from Dimapur and the winning team from Niuland, will advance to the state-level tournament scheduled to be held at IG Stadium, Kohima, on October 13 and 14.


The tournament was aimed at providing young athletes with a platform to showcase their skills while promoting teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and the development of values and sporting culture among students.


The opening ceremony was attended by Ketoulhou Sekhose, general secretary of ANPSA Dimapur, who delivered the welcome address, while Rev. Fr. Renthungo N Odyuo, vice president of ANPSA Dimapur, officiated the kick-off as the special guest.


Asito Peseyie, sports secretary of ANPSA Dimapur, administered the oath, urging participants to uphold integrity and fair play.


In his address, Sekhose stressed the importance of nurturing young talent through sports, stating that such platforms not only shape character but also open avenues for growth and excellence.

The closing ceremony was chaired by BP Sharma, treasurer of ANPSA Dimapur. Nini Sekhose, president of ANPSA Central, delivered words of encouragement and lauded the tournament for creating a platform for young talents to shine.


Bithungo Kikon, president of ANPSA Dimapur, proposing the vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to the Department of Youth Resources and Sports for providing opportunities to private school students and announced that ANPSA Dimapur will celebrate 25 years of its annual sports in 2026 with a series of tournaments across different disciplines.
