DIMAPUR— An alleged scammer who has been duping two wheeler taxi drivers in Dimapur was caught by one of the members and handed over to the police on June 13.
The modus operandi of the accused person was that he would take a ride from two wheeler taxi where upon reaching certain location; he would stop them and pretend to buy something or collect a parcel. He would also ask them to lend money with a promise to pay them after his return. Subsequently, he would flee with the money.
A source informed that the accused person has a particular tattoo on his neck. Basing on the description of the tattoo, a woman two wheeler taxi driver caught him and handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, the president of Nagaland two Wheelers’ Taxi Association, Kohima headquarters, Kenesalie Belho has condemned the act of the scammer who took advantage of the two wheeler taxi drivers in Dimapur.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In a condemnation letter, the president and the general secretary, Kethosilie Sorhie, have deplored the fraudulent and deceptive behaviour of engaging in unethical practices and scamming innocent people out of their hard earned money.
“Such actions are not only illegal but also deeply unethical and immoral and their action not only harms our riders but also tarnish the reputation of our society,” the letter stated.
They have call upon the law enforcement agencies to take swift actions against the scammer and bring justice at the earliest. The letter also urged the Nagaland Two Wheeler Taxi Association Units to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
Meanwhile, the additional commissioner of police (crime) and PRO Dimapur updated that they are still investigation the case.
