Two teenagers from Senapati district in Manipur have been arrested by Kohima police on charges of ‘illegal possession’ of cannabis.’ The capital’s police establishment issued a press release on Thursday informing of the arrest.
Personnel of the Kohima police manning Peducha check gate were undertaking routine checking and frisking duties when they stopped a Maruti Alto, the press release said. The vehicle said that the vehicle bore the registration number NL-01H-1867, chassis number MA3EAA61S01818487, engine number F8DN4585606.
On searching the vehicle, the police found 80 kilograms of ‘ganja,’ the Kohima police stated. Two persons were arrested in this connection. The accused have been identified as one Manikho Adarhü, a 19 year old from Sazouba village under Senapati district in Manipur; Kholi Asholi, another 19 year old from Sazouba village.
Both the arrested young men were taken into police custody on the charge of illegal possession and transporting cannabis.
“A regular case vide Sechü (Zübza) P.S Case No. 003/2016 U/S 20 (b) (c) NDPS Act is registered against them and they are remanded into police custody for conducting further investigation,” the police said.
